Dinraal tears of the kingdom

Dinraal can be found roaming the skies of the Akkala and Eldin Regions. It emerges from East Akkala Plains Chasm and turns Northeast to pass Octorok Lake and reach North Akkala Beach. From there, Dinraal turns West towards Akkala Wilds and crosses Skull Lake before entering the Eldin Region.

Unlike in Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom dragon locations aren’t tied to times of day. Instead, the dragons continuously circle their route. So if you don’t see a dragon on the surface, it’s because they’re probably in the Depths. The best bet is to either wait in place or try to catch them on the other side of the chasm.

So, yeah, that’s the path of Dinraal in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, but what time does it go underground / come back to the surface? Well it used to be that you could fairly reliably expect the dragon to exit the East Akkala Plains Chasm around 9 or 10 AM. However, it seems like that’s not the case anymore and all dragons have a constant cycle that’s not affected by resting at a campfire. So, the best advice I can give you is to wait at Typhlo Ruins Skyview Tower or Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower and wait for Dinraal to come along. Then, use the tower to launch yourself into the air and land on the dragon’s back (or fire at its feet to get the claw). Bring something like the Flamebreaker armor along, because Dinraal’s back is deadly hot.
